TPS-coated implants made of ceramic

TPS Coating on Ceramic

Technology

A porous TPS coating is applied on the implants using a vacuum plasma spray process to modify the surface of ceramic implants and thus to make the surface attractive for improved osseointegration.

TPS-coated ceramic cup
Range of Application
  • Orthopedic implants and implant components made from ceramic
Advantages of the Procedure
  • Surface enlargement without thermal microstructural changes of the implant material
  • Improved fatigue strength of the implants compared with sintering techniques
  • Increased purity and adhesive strength compared with other methods (e.g. APS Atmospheric Plasma Spray)
Properties
  • Color: gray
  • Coating thickness: 50–300 µm
  • Roughness Ra: 30–60 µm
  • Porosity: 20–40 %
  • Adhesion strength: ≥ 22 MPa
  • Biocompatible
  • Coating material: Titanium powder - pure titanium grade 4  (in accordance with ISO 5832-2 and ASTM F 1580 as well as titanium alloys in acordance with ISO 5832-3)

TPS Coating on Metal

The TPS metal coating is applied to the implants in a vacuum chamber. Read more>>

TPS Coating on PEEK

This TPS coating is applied in a vacuum and achieves a high level of porosity combined with good and sufficient coating adhesion. This technique makes coating bioinert plastics with a biocompatible and bone attractive surface possible. Read more>>
