BONITmatrix® - Indication and Application

BONITmatrix® is intended for application in maxillofacial surgery, plastic surgery, peridontology as well as in orthopedic and trauma surgery.
Maxillofacial Surgery:
  • Sinus floor elevation (open and closed technique)
  • Other polymural alveolar defects
  • Extraction defects in preparation for implant therapy
  • Residual defects following osteotomy
  • Defects following removal of bone cysts
  • Defects after apical resection
  • Augmentation of vertical and lateral bone deficiencies in the alveolar ridge
  • Defects after harvesting of autologous bone
  • Peri-implant defects

Periodontology:

  • Periodontal defects, also in combination with membranes
  • Intraosseous defects
  • Dehiscences
  • Furcations
Orthopaedic and Trauma surgery:
  • After harvesting of autologous bone
  • Following tumor resection
  • Acetabular defects following revision surgery
  • Spinal fusion
  • Pseudoarthrosis/delayed unions
  • In fractures that are treated by internal or external fixation methods

Application

The operational procedure depends upon the localisation, type and size of the bone void. It is necessary for BONITmatrix® to come into contact with vital bone tissue for the procedure to be successful.

The void is opened and cleaned
The void is opened and cleaned (to remove granulation tissue, soft tissue, necrotic tissue). The borders are vitalized to enable bleeding into the void.
BONITmatrix® granules are mixed with the blood of the patient
BONITmatrix® granules are mixed with the blood of the patient. If necessary, autologous bone chips are added.
The void is completely filled with the BONITmatrix®/blood mixture.
The void is completely filled with the BONITmatrix®/blood mixture with a slight surplus material. The material should not be compressed.
The augmented area is covered with membrane, subsequently close sutures
The augmented area is covered with periosteum or membrane to prevent ingrowth of fibrous tissue and subsequent close sutures.
